Our Weekend

Well, October 18 & 19 have not been the best days for Abbie and family. Poor Abbie had been sick for the last few days with a cold. Mommy noted that Friday seemed particularly snotty. Lots of sneezing and tissues (although at one point we upgraded to a rag as mere paper was not able to contain some of the fluid coming out of that child's nose.

Saturday morning Abbie slept and slept and slept which she sometimes does when she's sick. When Abbie finally woke up she wanted to do nothing more than snuggle with Mommy in Mommy's bed. Mommy watched poor Abbie's chest go in and her belly come out and listened to the wheezing. When Daddy came home and agreed with Mommy that this was something of concern, Mommy called the after hours nurse. The nurse suggested Mommy and Daddy bring Abbie into the after hours clinic in Children's Hospital. The after hours clinic suggested they bring Abbie to the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department put a little mask on Abbie and started treatment one of what would eventually be three in the E.D. Three treatments did not get her breathing where it should be so Mommy, Daddy, and Abbie got to spend the night at Children's Hospital.

There are more details to the story which I may post later this week. But there is a happy ending - Abbie's wheezing has abated and we are home tonight in our own beds in our own house.
