Although Abbie stayed up to watch the concession speech (was it just us or did McCain sound genuinely relieved not to to have been elected?), she could not stay awake for Obama's speech. But she was very excited the next day to see Obama on the front page of the newspaper. She and everyone else in Seattle.
This little daughter of ours is growing up in a world where having an African American as President of the United States is not a dream or a quest; it just is. It's truly remarkable. We can only hope she'll see a female president in the not-too-distant future.
And no, not President Palin.
