While on vacation in California, Abbie reached a few developmental milestones:
1) She ordered in a restaurant for herself. Those of you following the blog know that Abbie has gone to restaurants almost her entire life. However, it's always Mommy or Daddy that order the food for her. On Tuesday, February 11, Abbie told the waiter at the 24 hour diner across from the Diva Hotel that she wanted "pancakes" for dinner. It was very exciting.
2) Abbie put money in a cup. After our dinner of pancakes, Abbie and Mommy took a little walk around the neighborhood. A man asked for some change. Abbie asked Mommy, "what he doing" so Mommy explained that he was asking for some money so he could get some dinner. Abbie stopped walking past the man and pointed to his cup. So Mommy dug in her purse for change and Abbie, firmly holding Mommy's hand, walked over to the man and put the change in his cup.
3) "Why, Mommy?" Abbie has entered the "Why" stage and now many of our conversations end with either, "Because that's the way the forces of the universe work" or " Just because." It was cute at first; now it's exhausting.
