The Box

Chicks! There were chicks in the box! First batch of chicks were three bantam chicks (those are small chickens.) Since they can't sex the bantam chicks we're not entirely sure we have hens and not roosters. We'll just have to wait and see.

The second batch were two standard chicks. Ameraucana chicks so they'll lay lovely bluish/greenish eggs.

Oh, did I mention that Abbie and daddy have already made plans to eat any roosters? These chicks have been named and petted (both repeatedly) and yet Abbie seems to think it'll be no problem to eat one. Yes, I understand that all meat comes from animals and these particular animals will be well cared for and live better lives than those unfortunate factory-farmed chickens. Still, I can't believe that Abbie seems to be fine with the idea of eating her chicks.
