Corn

Summertime eating means corn on the cob. But babies are too little for corn. What's a family to do?

Corn-on-the-cob minus the corn.

OK, admittedly this isn't very nice, but she asked. And when we gave her one and that wasn't enough we knew that she really liked corn cobs. Someday we'll show her these pictures and tell her about the summer of 2007 when we were so poh we had to feed our baby corn cobs.

Stairs!

Abbie's new house has stairs. And Abbie surprised Mommy one day by climbing up.

Now, which box has the baby gates?

Swanson's

Every new home owner must make a trip to Swanson's to dream about the garden that will be planted. Abbie's new house has lots of lots of lots of English Ivy (a true devil vine. Seriously, who plants this stuff in their yard?) which all needs to be ripped out and replaced with a less evil ground cover. And some trees; Abbie's yard needs some new trees that will grow to be very, very tall.

But better than all of the plants at Swanson's is the collection of red wagons. We put Abbie in the wagon and Daddy dragged her all over the five acres of Swanson's. Abbie loved it. She was a little nervous at first and held on to the sides of the wagon with white knuckles. But once she got used to it she started to scoot around in the wagon and really enjoyed her ride. Especially when she got to wear her fancy hat.

The Big Bathtub

Out of necessity, Abbie took her first bath in the new house in the big tub, without the blow-up safety tub. Blow-up safety tub has developed a slow leak and Mommy is tired of blowing the thing up every night. So into the big tub Abbie went.

She looks so little in that great big tub. She loves having the entire length of the tub to scoot around and chase the turtle. Of course nothing is better than playing with the shower head in bathtub.

New House!

We took possession of the new house on Monday, July 23. Our first visit to the house as owners was very exciting. Moments after the realtor dropped of the key to the new house Mommy and Abbie strolled over. Mommy put Abbie and a vase in the stroller and started walking (no one wanted any of the trips to the new place to be empty-handed.) We met Daddy along the way and the three of us visited our new house together. The three nice daughters of the former owner let us keep the benches on the front porch.

Mommy carried Abbie over the threshold and then Daddy carried Mommy.

Abbie is practicing greeting guests.

Ha(t)

Abbie and her ha (the 't', for now, is silent.) Each morning as we come down the stairs headed for the kitchen and some breakfast, we walk right past where the hats are hung. So Abbie says, 'ha(t), ha(t), ha(t.)' Sometimes we can just talk about the hats; other times we must grab and wear the hat. And sometimes we need to have all three of the hats.

New House: The Closing

Abbie joins Mommy and Daddy at Chicago Title as they sign the papers to buy their new house. Abbie was a trooper for the almost 60 minutes it took to sign all of the documents. She enjoyed throwing papers to the floor and banging her pen on the table just like Mommy & Daddy did over and over and over again.

Abbie also made friends with the office staff by waving to them through the escrow officer's windows and playing a little peek-a-boo.
This was Abbie's second real estate signing so she's getting to be a real pro at this.
