No Zoo

As mentioned in the previous post, we decided to not go to the zoo. Mommy's thought process: Abbie is starting to whine because of the heat/sun and we're not even in the zoo yet. Abbie will not be able to discern the differences between the Denver zoo and the Seattle zoo. Abbie goes to the Seattle Zoo about three times a month. Abbie never goes swimming. Let's head back to the hotel and swim.

So Mommy and Abbie change into bathing suits (it takes Mommy a while to convince Abbie the word is bathing suit and not baby suit. Abbie kept trying to put the suit on her doll.) Then Mommy and Abbie have to slather their fair skin with lots of sunscreen. Happily Abbie likes to put lotion on herself so there was no battle. Then the donning of hats and cover ups and finally we head up to the rooftop pool. (Daddy later learned that this rooftop pool used to be part of the Playboy club.)

Once we arrived at the pool Mommy stepped into the 4 foot shallow end and reached up for Abbie. Abbie climbed down the ladder into Mommy's arm and got her legs and maybe an inch of bathing suit wet before she said, 'no, no, no' and signed 'done, done, done.' And that was it for the swimming for Abbie. Mommy did a few laps and then Abbie signed and said, 'mommy done' and that was it for both of us.

Although Abbie did not enjoy the pool, she loved being in her bathing suit and cover up. She wore that outfit for the rest of the day including during her much needed nap.
