Because every child should have memories of visiting Daddy's office, we made Phil's quick trip to the office a family event. Mommy remembers visiting her Abbie's grandpa's office as a child. His office smelled like a peculiar mix of corrugated (never called 'cardboard' by anyone who knows) and cigarettes. There were chairs on wheels that we could push across the floor and sometimes we got to walk through the warehouse between the towers of unassembled boxes. So today at Abbie's daddy's office we started with a cup of hot cocoa (which comes out of the machine after only pushing three buttons!) And then we spent a lot of time looking at the model: "Mommy, what's a model?" "Momma, why do they build a model?" "Momma, how do they build a model?" "Momma, look at the littletinytrees near the building!"
Abbie also drew a picture with a pencil and tried on the hard hat. "Momma, what's a hard hat?" "What could fall on your head?"
Finally, we found a partially completed model of greater downtown Seattle and examined that. When Daddy finished his emailing and printing we had to drag Abbie away from the model to go home.
