Abbie is a remarkable shopper - she is (mostly) content to look at things, although she occasionally likes to try things on. It's funny that her first reaction to trying something on is to ask me to take a picture of her. It doesn't occur to her to find a mirror to look at herself. Truly a sign of the amazing age in which she is growing up.
It's also fun to shop with Abbie because she (rarely) asks me to buy her something. She may say something vague like, "should we buy this?" I usually respond with, "No, I don't think we're going to buy that today." Although more and more frequently I have been answering with, "do you have your money?" And then you can watch her mind work as she calculates the true value of the item - is she willing to spend her own money on it? Mostly the answer is no, but sometimes the answer is 'yes.' She is much more willing to spend her own money on things than her mother ever was at that age.
In case you are wondering, she did not bring her money on this particular shopping day, but she did not ask Mommy to purchase the lovely flower clip in her hair. With nary a whine she put the flower back after trying it on.
